So You Wanna Learn IT but Don’t Know Where to Start? Read This.

By Nikita, teen & proud Star for Life Ukraine ambassador

Okay, real talk: getting into IT can feel super overwhelming. There’s code flying

everywhere, people talking about Java, Python, AI, cyber stuff like they’re in some kind of sci-fi movie… and you’re just sitting there like, “Should I even try?”

Short answer? YES. 100% YES.

Long answer? Well, let me tell you how it all clicked for me.

From Zero to “Wait, I’m Actually Doing This?!”

A year ago, I stumbled on a random post about free IT courses. I almost scrolled past it

(because yeah, ads), but something made me stop. It was from Star for Life Ukraine –

a non-profit that helps students like us learn IT skills for free. Not some boring theory –

I’m talking real, hands-on stuff: coding, UI/UX design, cyber security, and even English

& mental health support.

I signed up for one course. Then another. And before I knew it, I was building real

projects, designing cool stuff, and actually learning how to create apps—not just use

them.

Why It’s Not Your Average “School Stuff”

Here’s what makes it different:

  • Creative Coding – want to build an AI or make animations? Yup, you can.

  • Code Tournaments – think group projects, but fun. It’s collab + competition =

  • Summer Camp – meet friends, level up your skills, and win some cool prizes too

  • English Boost – because tech speaks English, and now, so can you

  • Real Support – mentors, not just teachers. People who actually care.

So… Why Am I Telling You All This?

Because I wish someone had told me earlier. Now I’m not just learning – I’m an

ambassador for Star for Life Ukraine. That means I get to share the behind-the-scenes,

the tips, the events, and all the cool stuff coming your way.

If you’re into design, coding, or cyber – this is your sign. No one starts as a pro. Start

confused, stay curious, and figure it out as you go. That’s how the cool stuff happens.
